Guided Meditation September 22, 2026
Wanting to be outside yesterday as part of the day and also desiring to make something, I recorded this meditation while sitting by a lake. Listening later, I heard some of the words, but perhaps mostly found myself getting lost in the soothing sounds of the crickets and the movement of water.
Movement.
Movement is something I often seem to have conversations about. Moving between this and that. Between pain and beauty. Between activity and rest. Between effort, courage, and taking a break. Movement as essential.
From the meditation:
What words of encouragement, wisdom, or warmth does your compassionate self say to you? What are the words it knows you need to hear?
Imagine yourself courageously receiving those words, allowing them in.
Movement. The flow of words from one space into the next.
This meditation draws on mindfulness, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Compassionate Mind Training, including the work of Dr. Paul Gilbert and Dr. Russell Kolts.
