Self-Compassion
Self-compassion is an aspect of caring in life that deals specifically with how we relate to our own being in the face of suffering we are experiencing. It is compassion directed from from our being to our being, and thus is a way of how we relate and respond to ourselves. Self-compassion includes a sensitivity to our own suffering, as well as a deep wish and motivation toward alleviating the suffering. It can involve feelings of warmth, support, care, concern, kindness, and love directed to our being (our self) from our self. It also can include being moved from this care to act in ways that might provide relief to ourselves or comfort to ourselves in a healthy, loving, caring-full way.
